Fantasy is popular among people. The possibility to transform the normal world into a place of dragons, giants, and ogres is very intriguing, and fantasy stories are often created over and over again in movies and novels. Video games within the universe of sorcerers will pretty much automatically sell out, and card games like Magic the Gathering cards are played by people of all ages in every part of the world. In most social gatherings it seems like there will be at least one person with MTG cards in his or her pocket.

Magic the Gathering is a table top, role playing, card game in the fantasy universe that started in 1993. Richard Garfield created the game as a new version of the traditional pen and paper RPG's, or Role Playing Games. Beyond playing the game, a lot of people have fun collecting the Magic the Gathering cards. The game involves a deck of Magic the Gathering cards, and pits two or more people together in a battle. Each player represents a powerful wizard who can raise creatures and use magical spells to defeat the other character.

Magic the Gathering is a highly strategic game which starts with each player at 20 life points and ends when only a single player remains alive. Each player uses summoned creatures and their abilities to battle the other players until their life points are down to 0.

The Magic the Gathering cards contain all the needed information to play the game as well as collector information. Magic the Gathering cards are identified by the name and picture of the creature. The Magic the Gathering cards also provide information on how powerful each card is. Next to the name is the Mana cost, which shows the type and weakness of the creature. Underneath the picture is a text box that lists the creatures abilities and other information.

There are thousands of cards with many different editions and printings. For example, the Abbey Gargoyles is a white, flying creature that has protection from a red card. Another card is the Abyssal Specter, which is a black flying creature. There are also other card types such as land, artifacts, and enchantment.

Magic the Gathering cards also have information for collectors. The bottom of the card holds the creators name and the card number. The card number shows where the individual card lands in the whole collection. It is used by collectors to organize their Magic the Gathering cards in numerical order. This information helps in the trading and selling of collective cards.
